Need some help

Hello there, if you reading this I'm in a bit of a situation. I've been playing D&D for about 6-7 months now and, honestly, I have a common grasp of the game, however, I could always know more.

 

Now, my friends and I are having a PvP campaign where we are to make a lvl 25 character. Now my friends have a much more intuative grasp of what classes really compliment each other. Me, well, not so much.

 

I was thinking about going into the Scourge of Chaos prestige class, damage reduction only overcome by chaotic damage seemed just so appealing. With a base class of Fighter, I really don't know what else I can cross-class with that will compliment the Scourge of Chaos. I could really use some help thanks.
