Totally novice question here. do i have to roll a d20 on a warlock's curse to see if it hits?

Yes. Its a ranged touch attack made as a standard action.

Wait, what?  No you don't.  It's just like an Avenger's ability.

Krusk is talking about the "Eldritch Blast" ability.  I know nothing about a "Warlock's Curse" ability in a 3.5 warlock.

This.

I assumed Eldritch blast, not warlocks curse. Should have clarified. I also assumed 3.5, but if this is 4e I could be totally wrong. Never played a 4e warlock.

Don't know why I assumed 3.5, ignore me if I'm in the wrong edition.

You assumed 3.5 because the title of the thread says '3.5'.  A pretty safe assumption, I'd say.

Yeah, but there's no warlock's curse in 3.5.

OP!  Get back here and tell us!

There is a hexblade class in 3.5 that does have a curse.  The ability is called Hexblade's curse and it does not require a touch attack but the target gets a will save to negate the effect.

The other difference is that a warlock can use eldritch blast at-will at all levels, but a hexblade can only use his curse at will at 19th level or above; He starts out at 3/day at 1st level.
