Normal attack damage modifier??

Aug 05, 2009 13:07:30 Hi, I'm a little bit confuse on a point.

When I attack with a weapon for a standard attack, do I add my strenght at the damage, or I only do this when I use a power?

By exemple, I do a normal attack with my Flail, it's do 1D10 + my strenght modifier, or only 1D10 ?

It's only weapon damage if the power says so.

Read the rest of the chapter, look for melee and ranged basic attacks.

It sounds like you mean "basic attack" when you say "normal attack". When you make an attack, you have to use a power. The Melee Basic Attack and Ranged Basic Attack are powers as well. Look in PH1 p.287 for details on these two powers.

When you use a power to attack, even basic attacks, look at the power description. It will tell you which ability to use for the attack roll and whether or not the ability modifier is added to the damage.

Nope, there are plenty of actions that are not powers, like a shift.
Check the actions in combat section of the PHB (in the combat chapter), but you can try pretty much anything you can think up, as long as your DM is willing to use Pg. 42, powers just tend to get better effects or reliability
