I have been playing for a while and I always took it for granted that the powers granted by your paragon path are in addition to your other daily and utility powers. I asked some friends for clarification and they agreed, but then we looked at the table on page 29 of the PHB. At 11th level you gain a paragon path encounter attack and under powers known it goes from 3 to 4 encounter attack powers known.

Do I really only get three encounters, three dailies, and three utilities plus the ones granted by my paragon path? Or am I doing something wrong? Please tell me that I am.

The numbers on page 29 are the total number of utility powers you know. So at level 30 you get 2 at-wills (both from your class), 4 encounter powers (3 class, 1 path), 4 daily powers (3 class, 1 path), and 7 utility powers (5 class, 1 path, 1 destiny).

It's pretty obvious when you read the table. At levels 1, 3, and 7 it says "gain 1 encounter attack power," so at 10th level you have three. Then at level 11 it says "gain 1 paragon path encounter attack power," and the table shows that you have 4 encounter powers. If the fourth one isn't the one from your path, where does it come from?

I don't see what any of this has to do with the Wizard more than any other class.

So the Wizard (who has access to more actual powers than any class via the spell book class feature) is weak because he has the same number of powers as other classes? You'll forgive me if I don't understand. How exactly does that make the wizard weak? He can use his at-wills (things like Magic Missile) surprisingly enough, at will. He can use his encounters, once per encounter (i.e. after a short five minute rest). Finally he can use his dailies, once a day.

Isn't that better than being able to use all three of those categories once a day like they used to be able to?

I think the guy just meant to say, "As weak as all the other classes," which is to say, weak compared to previous editions. Some people liked wizards being vastly more powerful than the other classes and thought that was a great thing; largely they were the people who played wizards, but that doesn't make them not entitled to hold their personal, crazy opinion.

It also doesn't make their opinions anything other than crazy and absurd.

so thats known, how many times a day can they be cast.

A daily power can be used once per day. An encounter power can be used once per encounter.
