Mar 15, 2008 22:02:53 I know there's a way to play a Paladin, and a Ranger as well for that matter, where they give up either some, in the case of the Paladin, or all, in the case of the Ranger, spell abilities for an alternative bonus/bonuses somewhere. For the life of me, though, I can't find where these are, but I'm fairly certain they're somewhere hiding in a 3.5 book somewhere. Little help here? :D

I found three of them on the SRD, but I thought there was more somewhere in a book. I want to stick to LG to -really- challenge myself with a character concept I have, so the Freedom-Paladin is out, and since this is a 'Good' game, the other two evil ones are a no-go.

Mar 15, 2008 22:47:44 There's a really stupid variant in Complete Warrior that makes your attacks good-aligned and gives you two 1/day SLA's of spells that you'd be able to get otherwise...

and one in Complete Champion that gives you 4 bonus feats from a list over time

Mar 15, 2008 22:50:24 Sooooo...in other words, you're telling me to suck it up? *lol* Yeah, as a matter of fact, I think it's the ones from the Complete Warrior I was trying to remember about. Alrighty, then, LG 'Honor Paladin' it is ;)

Mar 15, 2008 23:13:48 The one in complete champion isnt terrible. Its biggest benefit i that it reduces your MAD. Now instead of Needing high Cha,wis, Con, Str, and being unable to dump dex and int too far. You can dump wis as low as you want, letting you raise the other ones up some.

If you want paladins for different alignment, Dragon 311 and 312 have something like that for all 9 alignments. If you want something paladin-like for other alignment without spell abilities, check the MoI Soulborn and the ToB Crusader.

If you want a little bit of both, make a soulborn or crusader with levels in Pious Templar (CDiv)

Mar 16, 2008 18:47:24 I think there are variants for most classes in Unearthed Arcana. I might be wrong though, I don't have the book on me at the moment. But if I'm right, it has a paladin for all the alignments or at least the extremes (CG,LE,CE).
