This en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plane_%28Dungeons_... says you have to basically find a portal, conduit, or gate and you travel through it. I thought it would be harder than that. I thought it would be more than poping into an oblivion gate, kill some daedra, and pop out again. |

In 4e the basic idea of "most planes are uninhabitable" are done away with (because what's the point of having it if you can't go there?). That's not to say that the inhabitants of said plane won't kill you on sight (if you go to the Abyss, they will) or that there's other enviromental hazards to deal with, but at least you won't randomly die just for being there. What you basically need is either a natural portal or phenomenom (which is entirely up to the DM to provide) or a ritual. There's a few rituals that let you hop between planes. The most common one is Planar Portal, which takes you to a permanent teleportation circle on a plane of your choice. You'll need to know a destination though, which might take some research. For a few more common travel locations, there are also other (lower level) rituals such as Fey Passage (which takes you to the Feywild) or Shadow Passage (which, surprise surprise, takes you to the Shadowfell). |
