#1 Rartemass Oct 15, 2013 19:00:15	I've got a character background that involves having adventurer parents trapped in the nine hells where his mother gave birth to him. After about 20 years of living among devils (and being guided by goog aligned parents) he is brought into the prime material plane (Eberron) for story reasons. Basically along the lines of Connor in Angel. I'm looking at insight into how his experience would shape him. Considering alignment, he is living in a law evil society under the guidance of good parents. He has developed friendships with devils. Laws are different in hell than in Eberron. I'm looking for ideas on how to portray this character. He would see himself as good but would have LE tendencies. Things he considers as lawful could be considered evil in Eberron. What would be some examples of this? While I could play him as Lawful E vil and call it a day I don't think that fully represents the background. His parents would try to instil morals from their good alignment so he would be a mash of the two. Any advice or insight would be appreciated.
#2 Centauri Oct 16, 2013 22:12:38	Alignment is purposefully lax in Eberron. Neutral Good Queen Aurala, with her ambition to reignite war, is arguably one of the most evil people in Khorvaire, while the vampiric and Lawful Evil King Kaius is arguably one of the most good. Your Lawful Evil character should have little trouble fitting in.   Play your character in an interesting way. Alignment is fine as an inspiration, but there's no "right" way to play it, outside of certain spells and items. Take situations as they come. When it would be interesting and not tiresome for the people you're playing with, find ways for your character to misunderstand something about a normal human interaction, assuming that the rules of Hell still apply and being surprised when they don't. Fiction is full of fish-out-of-water characters. Worf and Seven of Nine on Star Trek, Teal'c on Stargate. Follow those sorts of examples.
