| #1grifta67Jun 13, 2008 14:17:51 | Hey everyone! I gave the gameday a try last weekend and loved it. I want to finally get around to playing some DnD! My problem is I work at a bar and therefore work mostly nights and have a very inconsistent schedule. I never know what days I'll have off until the week before, and it's never the same from week to week. As you might imagine, this makes joining up with a group pretty impossible. I'm not sure exactly how things are run, but I assume that my character showing up at 1 or 2 of the sessions for the month would really mess up the campaign or whatever flow they have going. There's only so many times the DM can work my arrival and departure into the story and the other players wouldn't be able to depend on me much! The same seems to be online. I know a few people that play via instant message programs, but again I can't commit to a schedule of playing due to work. What would work out well is "one-shot" adventures, where if I have a free night, I can jump online (or preferably in real life, but thats prolly impossible) and play that night. Do DMs run adventures like that? It seems all I've found are long running adventures over multiple sessions. I realize that those longer sessions are probably more enjoyable but it seems my options are limited. Does anyone have ideas or places you can point me towards? I'd really like to casually get some DnD in when I have the chance! Thanks -Sean |

(And eventually the D&Di game table if you like live game sessions) Play by post, like Real Adventures on these boards allows you to play at your convenience. The games are continuous 24/7 play in which you post your character's actions when you have time. Because of this games are MUCH slower, but you can be really creative with your actions as well as you have time to think about them before posting. I suggest heading over to Real Adventures, check out a few of the games there and if you like what you see there are a few games recruiting right now and if you need any help I'm the GM for that area so feel free to PM me. The Game Table (available in the coming months) will have a lobby in which you will be able to ask people to join your games. Now in your case you may end up running or playing in one shot adventures like you said. Whether there will be DMs that do this remain to be seen as the Game Table is not available at this time. |
