#2 kouk Sep 13, 2008 12:52:41	I would suggest you calm down and read the rulebook. Keep an eye toward the classes they don't have represented in their group already.

Pick a few based off the descriptions and then go the actual write-up for races and the classes later on in the book (sorry I don't have my books with me so can't give you page #s) that you think sound cool. Pick one of each and have fun.

Not trying to be a grammar-nazi, but I had some difficulty deciphering what you meant. That said, play whatever you want... If you want to blast entire areas from afar with fire, ice, and magical force, play a wizard. If you want to be a heavily armored soldier who protects his allies by smashing into the enemies with brutal attacks, play a fighter. If you want to be the plate-clad holy crusader that punishes enemies for ignoring him, can heal in emergencies, and can deal devastating smite attacks, play a paladin. If you want to slink in the shadows, take advantage of enemy weaknesses, and remain mobile in melee, play a rogue or ranger. If you want to fire from the back with highly-focused attacks, and use "gotcha" effects on enemies that get too close, play a warlock or ranger. If you want to support your entire party while mixing it up in melee, pour out a constant stream of healing, and give your party the tactical edge, play a warlord. If you want to be the party's religious leader, a bastion of defense and healing, and deliver crippling magical blows to your enemies, play a cleric.
#5 minja_dup Sep 13, 2008 21:49:05	Hi aken181! First. DON'T PANIC. The first character doesn't really matter anyway. Make something simple and fun, just hop in and get your feet wet, try playing. Trust me, don't sweat it. Then once you play for three or four sessions and you see how the games go, and you learn the rules and how it all plays, you will get some new ideas and... ...THEN... ... you will want to study the books more, work up a background and invest in a character you really want to build and play. Whenever I try a new role playing game, with a new system that I have never played before I don't put too much effort into the first character I make. I typically take the advice of the person in the group with the most experience in that game, just to give it a try. Then as I am playing I find I get ideas that fit better into the setting and the system. Good Luck!!! Have fun!!!:D
#6 emelar Sep 16, 2008 18:35:47	Just pick the race that you like the looks of best, pick the class that you like best based on the short blurbs Novacat provided, and get to playing. If you end up not liking it that much, you make something different. It's no big deal.
