Sweet!

I've added a link to this thread to the Forum FAQ and Important Links thread stickied at the top of the forum.

I think this was a fairly nice job for introductory characters but there's a couple things you may consider.

1: Several of the builds appear far less than optimized, I'm not sure if this was intentional in an attempt to make them simpler or more stereotypical in flavor, but it just kind of struck me as odd.

2: Depending on whether or not your players have access to CB, it might be kinder on them to try to stick to core only. When you use a PHB1 class, pull a power from a supplementary, and then a feat from a different suplementary, it might be confusing. I guess you could just print out all their powers for them, but I know that even my new players enjoyed taking a more active role in their own character creation.

Valid points, but i have a few minor disagreements.

1) While the builds appear a bit less than optimized, I'd say they're better than what we got for KotS. Just fine for beginners.

2) I would make a concession to allow PHB2 material in the premades, since it's technically supposed to be a core book. I might also allow for concessions for AV, considering that it is a pretty popular supplement. Outside of that, I'd stay away from other supplements. In fact, do i see a few of those At-Wills that come from the minis packs *cough* GRASPING TIDE *cough*? Definitely avoid those, as very few people actually have hard-copy access to them.

...also, where is the Bard At-Will Cutting Words? I'm not seeing it in AP nor PHB2...is it one of those minis bonus powers?

The characters were built through a combination of things. My goal was to have all of them be viable and interesting, but not necessarily optimized. In some cases I had an idea for a theme, in others I just threw things together.

These are back-up options for people who show up without characters, lack the time to make their own characters, or who would rather jump in with something that will work rather than try to figure things out enough to build a character. We'll certainly be helping out people who want to build their own.

In any case, I definitely intended to print out power cards; I find them amazingly useful, whether used on a single sheet or cut into individual cards.

Thanks!

If it was in my Character Builder, I considered it fair game. Still, I'll keep this in mind during the actual event; if people are planning to play at home, and won't necessarily have D&DI, they may well care about keeping things to certain books.

Yup. As a general note, even if you aren't a subscriber, you can always use the D&DI Compendium to look up the source of something. The subscription just lets you see the details as well.

Good point on keeping it to PHB 1...because the kind of people who would want premade characters are people just starting out. The kind who only own PLB, maybe the other base books.

He posted it in CB import format, so clearly its intended to be used with the CB. If you have the CB, then its not necessary to own the books. Everything's right there for you. In fact, my tendency with new players is to just hand them the sheet (with power cards) and keep the books out of the whole thing.

I would more say it was generated with CB that intended for CB, but it's a small argument.

These are very useful! I'll have to use one of these for my next PbP.

Double thanks for these. I'm using them at an upcoming event, and I was at the original event these were made for. A guy at my table played the halfling warlock to good effect.

I really like these and plan on using a few of them for some 4e playtests.  If there anyway to get them BACK into character builder?

I'm glad you like them!  You might want to look over them before use since they're a bit dated.  To get one into your character builder, you want to copy the entire stat block (including the "==== Created Using..." framing) to your clipboard, then use the "Import from Clipboard" button under Manage/Summary.  You'll probably need to fix a few things (testing on the Paladin entry gave me two racial trait choices to make, a deity to pick, and some of the equipment wasn't recognized).
