My friends (other than the DM) are used to running hero system type games and what not. And problems have been arrising. Just for instance, one person is wanting to play a shadarkai paladin. He is going to wear plate armor, but he doesnt want to cover his tatoo's/piercings/scars due to his race's history/culture of such things. So the DM decided to say yes, you can take a few pieces of the armor off here or there.. but you have to keep the majority of the armor on.. cause if it starts to disappear its not going to be Plate. But the character was going to keep all the game mechanics/negatives to checks and what not on the armor.. Just wanted it to look better... Another person was going to make a gunslinger/caster by using guns to flavor the spells... like shotgun for burning hands and crap like that... which game master has said is fine just put limitis on it.... there are several other things.. But basically.. I'm just trying to keep the game together.. But everyone is getting pissy about the way things look and work and what not... Any help? comments? i'm all ears yo |

If you want more freedom, you could consider a different system, maybe. Basically; some people enjoy reflavoring everything, and some people don't. When the opinion around the table differs between players, it's bound to get you some conflicts. |

As long as it makes since try and get people to accept it, or at least find some middle ground, like pluisjen said. Discuss the limits of changing the look of the armor, if the pally doesn't like it maybe he'll be willing to look for a different type of armor? |

Damn young players and their cartoonish idea of things, their colourish garments and skateboards making a raucous in the streets! Seriously though, it might be for the best just to find new players. If your DM and they can't agree in something like the looks of the armour, it would be a nightmare to try to play every session without some stress. Just find a DM that you feel comfotable with, or a party that suits you, you will enjoy the game a lot more that way. Finally, a link to a relevant thread, community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/758... ways things are depicted seem to be a central concern for some people, and it was not a joke, how platemail should look is a topic which coutless threads in the web have discussed, always to no concensus. |
