Mar 18, 2008 19:46:57 hey guys. as a pc I have never owned a peice of land or a house. in the campaign I am currently playing in my character found a house that was abandoned and claimed it for himself. the dm allowed this and said ( after i asked) that i could have the shak improved to a decent house and have a wood palacade built around it for 1000 gp is this a good deal. also is there a source book that offers values for palaces houses land bars hotels and the like

I plugged in stats into my construction program for making a house with 550 sq. feet, including 8 windows, a fireplace, primitive plumbing, and a roof (foundations are already set). It would cost almost 3k gp.

I'd take the 1k gp price and not ask questions.

Mar 18, 2008 20:21:49 Seems like a good deal if you have the money. Especially if you have room to expand. If you can make it larger and set up some defenses it should work as a nice base of operations. As for source books the best I can think of is the Stronghold Builder's Guide, the one I have is from 3.0 and I am not sure if there is a newer one but since its just about buildings I doubt much as changed.

I'm pretty sure that a palisade large enough to surround a house would count as at least a Colossal Animated Object.

But what about disposing of the corpse? Pew Pew! A few fireballs later, the wind scatters the ashes, and you start chatting up the smokin' hot now Miss Mcfarmerson.

Mar 19, 2008 17:49:45 Dunno what good a palisade is going to do for your house unless you have guards to defend the property. Then again I don't know what good a home does an adventurer, unless he's thinking about retiring the life.
