You can pick that much up over your head and move as if you were wearing heavy armor (for your race, so 20ft for humans). You can "pick up" up to 200lbs and move 5ft a round, but lose your dex bonus. You can push or drag up to 500lbs, it can't come off the ground. I don't think it says, but I believe while dragging or pushing you can only move 5ft a round. Conditions such as slippery surfaces, or that you are actually rolling an object can change things, subject to DM calls. Is it improbable? Maybe. But remember, characters don't have to worry about hernias and such, so they can push with all their might. |

On a side note, five hundred pounds isn't all that much. I ride a 250 ninja, which is a 350lb motorcycle. I'm a 5'5", 140lb human. There have been times when my motorcycle was... not upright, let's say. It's not too hard to pick it up if you know what your doing, but if you don't it's a lot easer to push it sideways in an effort to get the rubber side down again. Having ridden larger cruiser-style motorcycles before, I can say with reasonable confidence the same would be true of those larger bikes. |
| #5roguewiz_dupMay 01, 2008 13:04:59 | A fort save would only be viable "if" the character is pushing/pulling for an extended period of time. Eventually they would tire. (I believe there are rules for it, much like running for an extended period of time) As far as it seeming improbable? Keep in mind that this is a fantasy setting. Nobody wants to play themselves, or a mediocre character. Whether you want to play a champion of justice, a sneaky piffiler of shinies, a finger waving wizard, or a devout cleric; you're playing something that isn't you. RL concepts are ok to bring into the game, but doing so takes away from the fantasy element. Fantasy isn't necessarily dragons and wizards. Fantasy is something that you can imagine. Don't worry about the realness of it. Just enjoy yourself =) |
