I have this charater that i wanna make, a revanant, actually.. i was wondering if it would be in lines with The Raven Queen's m.o. if he was parhaps a vampire with the vampire heritage feat?
#2 gargs454 Aug 28, 2009 13:52:30	Well, technically, both Vampire and Revenant would be races, so the two wouldn't blend.  That being said though, I think the Vampire Heritage feat in and of itself would work fine.  As a DM I would allow that, but in either event you should probably run it by your DM to be sure.  Plus, this will likely spark some nice plot hooks for your DM.
#3 turbowombat Aug 28, 2009 16:37:29	Perhaps I misread the Raven Queen entry but isn't she like the Faerunian god Kelemvor in so far as she considers the undead to have unfairly escaped her and sees them as an abomination which must be abolished from the earth? I can't think of any worse antithesis than a Vampire or Lich.
#4 salla Aug 28, 2009 16:38:44	The nice thing about 4e gods is that they're distant; if you can justify how your character looks at the religion's tenets (aka 'how can I twist this'), you're fine.  Come up with a way to 'creatively interpret' the RQ's doctrines, and you're good to go.

Um i think i will post his backround story in a blog if you all are intrested in reading it. This charater isnt one i have played yet...(shout out to the killeen, tx players.. i wanna get a game asap!)
#6 individuality Aug 28, 2009 23:27:13	First of all, the Vampiric Heritage feat makes you a Dhampyr, not a Vampire. Dhampyrs are not Undead, and thus the Raven Queen wouldn't have a problem with a Revenant Dhampyr. Revenants are Undead though, and the Raven Queen MAKES them. Keep that in mind for the next time someone says she's against undead. She's all about the bigger picture. If your undead fulfills your purpose, she's ok with you. If you chose to become undead to dodge your purpose, well, that's just the kind of thing she doesn't like. As a Revenant/Dhampyr/Other Race, you'd have a decent selection of racial feats, and the available powers would be vast. Mechanically, that's about all there is to say. In terms of Roleplay though, a half vampire, half (Insert other race), turned undead when the raven queen raised him to fulfill his greater purpose would be very interesting. The fact that you'd be half vampire, and thus able to infiltrate vampire society, would be invaluable to the Raven Queen if she wanted to clean out a particular clan of vampires who were dodging their fates. Then there's the length of your life before you were a Revenant. As a Dhampyr, your life was extended beyond the norm for your first race. Then resurected as a Revenant, and alive again, for an untold amount of time. There's a plenty long lifetime and a decent chunk of afterlife to fill with detail about where your character came from, and why he is what he is. Finding out what purpose you were supposed to fulfill in life could also be a great story. And then there's the question of whether or not you really want to move on, or whether you'll rebel against the Raven Queen, reject your purpose, and try to stick with your immortality. There's also whatever choices come with your first race to consider. The cultural bits of three races combined into one being would leave you with more roleplaying options than I can think of right now. All in all, it's a very interesting concept, with some huge roleplaying bonuses. There aren't any downsides I can think of, unless your DM simply doesn't like the idea. Or unless you actually want to be a full vampire instead of a Dhampyr.
