Hello, i am seeking help on a scout build. I want to be pure range and be a useful character. It would be helpful if you give me a step by step leveling kinda thing to level 20 or just some very helpful tips or hints. Thanks for your time :D

Your sig is ****ing obnoxious. Shrink that sucker down or stow it in a sblock, or both.

Nobody is going to give you a step by step guide and full 20-level build, you've got to put in at least some effort on your own. Suggest you get hold of Complete Scoundrel and look for the Swift Hunter feat, it could prove useful to you. Also, Greater Manyshot in Expanded Psionics Handbook and also the SRD could prove extremely helpful for getting the most of your skirmish damage.

Also, if you're making an archer type, avoid the temptation to dump Str. Even if you're doing no melee at all, you'll want Str for carrying a lot of ammo. Furthermore, damage reduction will be a pain in the ass if you've got no strength bonus to damage helping until you get some significant skirmish damage, and things immune to precision damage will shut you down completely if skirmish is your only source of bonus damage.

No idea. Check the guide I linked to, and ask the guy who made the build.

I would guess dungeonscape.

I would take Improved Skirmish Earlier... get that damage up ASAP.

Also... whats the 5th level of Scout for? Most people I know would do Scout 4/Ranger 16. With the 5th level of Scout you lose some BAB.

Also, if it work themeaticly, take your Ranger Favored Enemys
as things that are normaly immune to your Skimish Damage, like Undead and Constructs, so that way with Swift Hunter you can still do some decent damage.

Lastly, whats the point of the Trapfinding Ranger Varraint... the Scout already get's trapfinding? Unless the Ranger Varraint is for the Disable Device skill so you don't pay double on your Ranger levels.

No idea. Check the guide I linked to, and ask the guy who made the build.

Bolded in case you missed it.

My bad, I was just responding to the first post, not the second.

To actually answer some of the questions posed, as I doubt DM is in a hurry to come here and discuss his build.

Yes i know of scout 4/ranger 16 is considered standard, but i prefer both evasion and reflecting rays back to spellcasters and the possibility to disable them, than just +1 BAB +1 to fort and reflex and +1 2nd level spell. The spell reflection is based on your dexterity and you have a very high touch armor class (bonuses from skirmish, high dexterity, etc).

-DM

Apparently he wanted evasion, so he took scout 5. I would definatly recomend reading the thread itself, as he probably explains it better.

I would ditch out on spells altogether, I know they are nice, but so is gaining an additional dump stat. It would also free up the feat slot for improved skirmish earlier by dropping practiced spellcaster. Plus with the complete champion variant you net another 4 feats for use.

Again though, without the Op giving any more suggestion as to what they want to play, this is a standard build that is probably decently workable.
