I'm in the process of making a druid based off a character in a book series I read a while back. In the books, the character's companion is a toad, which by book description, would be about the size of a wolf or dog, etc., standard animal companion. However, I was going through the monster manual to see what they had on toads and all I could find was the diminutive creature. Any advice for the stats and etc. for making this toad?

Assuming this is 4th, I'd use the comparion character guidelines in the DMG2.

For powers, I would consider a power that lets it pull an enemy adjacent with its tongue (maybe a grab too as an encounter power), and a bite attack, that does more if the target is grabbed by the tongue.

It could also have a jump power to help it get around.

Oh crap, I should've clarified better, I'm sorry! We're actually playing a 3.5 game, but thank you for your input!

Use the Giant Lizard, I imagine that'd be close enough.

You may need to look in the 3.0 Monster Manuals, but I could swear there's a dire toad or frog somewhere in there...

I know for a fact there were stats for them back in 2nd Edition.

Put a hat and fake beard on him and use halfling stats ; no one will know the difference anyway .

Thanks a ton everyone! I googled Dire Toad and found out it's in the Monster Manual II, so I'll be using it as one of the 4th level and up animal companions. Thanks for the help!
