| #1dillogdallJul 16, 2009 19:07:21 | Can you perform a full attack even after moving, if you have one of these feats? |
| #2Crimson_ConcertoJul 16, 2009 19:28:31 | Neither of those feats have anything at all to do with your ability to full attack. Why would you think that? ![]() |
| #3ZherogJul 16, 2009 19:32:11 | In both cases, all the feat allows you to do is split your move action*. Instead of having to Move then Standard Action (or Standard Action then Move), you get to Move, Standard Action, Move again, as long as the combined movement is no more than your movement speed. * OK, that's not quite all, to be complete. Spring Attack also exempts your movement from provoking attacks of opportunity against the foe you attack, which is also pretty important at times. |

To explain in more detail, half way through your move action you can make an attack as a standerd action. A full attack is a full round action so can't be used with this feat. Most mulipul attacks are full round actions (I haven't seen any that aren't) so you'll only be able to make 1 attack with those feats. However, PHB2 has the feats Bounding Assult and Rapid Blitz which allow you to make 2 and 3 attacks respectivly during a move. They to require a high attack bonus however. Hope this helps |
| #5ZherogJul 16, 2009 21:08:35 | To explain in more detail, half way through your move action ... It doesn't have to be half-way. It can be at any point, as long as your combined movement isn't more than your movement speed. For example, if your speed is 30 you could move 5 feet, attack, then move up to 25 feet. You could move 20 feet, attack, then move 10 feet away. Whatever combination works for the current situation. |

| #9dillogdallJul 16, 2009 22:08:12 | Neither of those feats have anything at all to do with your ability to full attack. Why would you think that? Well, I was curious about it because of the class feature Skirmish, which requires you to move 10 feet every round in order to gain the extra damage from it. So I guess you basically have to choose between doing a full-round attack and Skirmish. Anyway, thanks for the answers. |

So I guess you basically have to choose between doing a full-round attack and Skirmish. More or less. There's a few options for you. A) There's an item in Arms & Equipment Guide called the sparring dummy of the master. (page 137) As long as you're willing to dip one level of monk, it'll allow you to take a 10' step rather than a 5' step. B) Complete Warrior has a prestige class called the Dervish. (page 25) The "Dervish Dance" class ability allows you to make a full attack and a move action, but there's some restrictions on it. I believe there's a few other ways, but they aren't coming to mind at the moment. |
| #11shadow_viperJul 16, 2009 23:55:10 | The Shot on the Run and Spring Attack feats(3.5) let you move before and after using the attack action(standard action). They do not let you take an actual standard action, so Manyshot can not be combined with shot on the run. As for skirmish, a good tactic(in my opinion) is to move 10 feet(or 20 feet if you have Improved Skirmish) and then use Manyshot. Of course it does depend on the situation and Shot on the Run/Spring Attack can still be useful. |
| #12dillogdallJul 17, 2009 2:18:02 | Thanks again. Anyway, I have another question: When you're dual-wielding, you only apply half of your strength to the off-hand. Is the penalty the same, when you apply your dexterity to hit (by having the weapon finesse feat)? |
| #13shadow_viperJul 17, 2009 2:27:50 | Yes, when wielding a light weapon in the off-hand and Two Weapon Fighting feat, the penalty is always -2 for both hands. As far as I know there is no other feat that reduces that further. Though there is the Tempest PrC in Complete Adventurer, which has Ambidexterity(which was a 3.0 feat) as one of the class features. Weapon Finesse does not reduce/affect that penalty, it only allows you to substitute your Dex mod in place of your Str mod for attack rolls when using certain weapons. 1/2-STR applies to damage rolls with the offhand, not attack rolls. It also applies any time you use a light weapon, even in your main hand. |
| #14sallaJul 17, 2009 2:34:38 | My 3rd Edition memory is fading fast, however, if memory serves, the feat Greater Manyshot in the Expanded Psionics Handbook may be worth looking at for you. You can't fire it off in the middle of a Shot on the Run, but it basically takes Manyshot and does two things: 1. Lets you fire your shots at different targets, and 2. Makes every shot require its own attack roll. Someone please check my memory/Rules Fu, but IIRC, having each shot make its own attack roll means that skirmish damage will apply to every shot. |
| #15ZherogJul 17, 2009 7:29:47 | You're correct Salla. And because each arrow has its own attack roll, each qualifies for precision damage such as sneak attack or skirmish. If you don't have Expanded Psionics Handbook, the feat just happens to also be available in the SRD: Greater Manyshot [General] |
| #16zillahJul 17, 2009 8:42:54 | what if you have bounding assault and you are a level 5 tempest? you get 2w spring attack at level 5, plus this. does that mean you get 3 attacks? What if you have the pounce ability which lets you charge, and then make a full attack with all these. Can you use all these abilities at the same time? |
| #17dillogdallJul 17, 2009 9:41:14 | I have yet another question, or actually two this time (hopefully my last ones D: ). These are stuffs I've been wondering about for a while, and still can't find good explanations in PH or DMG. Also, some of the pages it refers to at the index can be very misleading. Here goes: How does ranged touch attack work? All it said in PH was that you make a roll as if it were a normal ranged attack, but at the same time you don't get the bonus from Dex or something. Also, can you deliever a ranged touch attack with a melee touch as well? The second question is about skills, more precisely multi-class and prestige class skills. So, when you have a simple core class, you pay one SP for each of your class skills, and twice the amount for a cross-class skill (which you can't max out either), but when multi-classing what determines the max rank, the cost and so forth? I'm guessing you can for example max out bluff if you're a Rogue 3/Sorc 3, since both have the class skill, but what about skills like Spellcraft? Also, are the penalties less severe (if severe at all) for prestige classes? Thanks in advance. Oh, btw (I guess I should've stated this earlier), I play the 3.5 version. |
| #18ZherogJul 17, 2009 10:35:44 | How does ranged touch attack work? All it said in PH was that you make a roll as if it were a normal ranged attack, but at the same time you don't get the bonus from Dex or something. Also, can you deliever a ranged touch attack with a melee touch as well? A ranged touch attack is a ranged attack that resolves against the target's touch AC rather than their "normal" AC. Your ranged attack is completely normal. You add your Base Attack Bonus, your Dexterity modifier, and any other bonuses or penalties (such as from on-going spell effects such as bane or from feats such as Weapon Focus). Your target's touch AC is (more or less) equal to it's normal AC minus its armor bonus and natural armor bonus. OK, let's stick with the rogue 3/sorcerer 3 example. If a skill is a class skill for either of those classes, your max ranks is character level plus 3 (9 in this case). So, for example, skills such as Bluff and Spellcraft have max ranks of 9 for that character. Knowledge (religion) is not a class skill for either class, so the max ranks in that class are 4.5. How much it costs to increase your ranks in the skill depends on the class in which you're taking a level. If you're taking a level in rogue, you spend 1 skill point for any skill on the class skill list and 2 skill points for everything else. So, for example, while taking a rogue level you spend 1 skill point to increase your ranks in Bluff and 2 skill points to gain one rank in Spellcraft. If you were to take a level of sorcerer next, you would only spend one skill point for ranks in Bluff or Spellcraft, because those are class skills for a sorcerer; however, if you also wanted to increase Hide, you would need to spend 2 skill points for each rank, since Hide isn't on the sorcerer class skill list. If that isn't clear, just let me know what's fuzzy and I'll do my best to clear it up. |
| #19shadow_viperJul 17, 2009 16:19:04 | I was wondering that myself regarding Bounding Assault and Rapid Blitz in combination with Two-Weapon Spring Attack from Tempest. If I were to have both Greater and Improved Two-Weapon Fighting, would I get three attacks with both weapons? What I'm guessing though is, no. TWSA just allows you to make one attack with your off-hand. |
