So far we have Warden, Bard(ranged), Warlock, and one other guy that will play whatever we need. Any ideas for a fun class to compliment the group? I don't like classes that tend to do the same ability every round. I have PG1, PG2, Martial, and Arcane books. So something from those would be good.     Cool

Hm... Defender, Healer, Ranged Striker, Melee Striker... you're possibly weak on Buffer, and don't have a good Area Striker, Debuffer, or Battlefield Manipulator.

The latter two functions are generally wrapped together in the "controller" role. Some controllers are also passable as Area Strikers.

You could try a druid,it would give you a controller that can melee and range.

Well whatever I do I want to be really good at it. So if I rolled controller I got option for druid, wizard, or invoker.

This would be only my second character ever in 4ed and I've never actually played with a controller. I've been looking through the books and it looks like invoker doesn't have much to offer. Am I wrong on that?

i see you're not a subscriber, so you haven't seen the additional support to wizards over the past few months. also, so probably haven't gotten much word about the Seeker, a primal controller that uses ranged weapons vs AC to deliver area attacks, many of which do not target allies.

so, looking at the smaller selection of, i'd still recomment wizard. i like that druid can serve up melee and range, but to become more effective as a druid, IMO, it is better to choose one of those two areas to focus on more exclusively, leaving the other to the wind. the wizard can serve as both area attack and single attack, but will be also skilled at both range and close attacks.

you may not be aware of hybrid rules, but a hybrid swordmage/wizard can be a very good build that allows for mass attacks and still gives sufficient melee skill. i recently built a swordmage/wizard eladrin for a friend that is a very nice build of defender and controller skills.

the invoker can bea really good class, but some of the lowest level prayers seem a tad bit weak or situational. if ti seems that you won't be a good addition, talk to your DM about making those situations come up enough to make yoru choices useful.

the bard will have ritual casting, but mightnot be trained in religion or nature. if you chose another ritual caster that had religion or nature trained, that could provide additional assistance to the party. that might be a plus for invoker.

on another coin, you could pull in a shaman to add to both the leader role and defender role. the shaman's spirit is highly effective in serving the role of defender. this would give your warden added assistance in the front line and increase protection for the warlock and bard that are staying at range.
