One of my players is a Swordmage and we were unsure about how to go about this rule, his Booming Blade deals damage if an adjacent mob moves away; the question is, is shifting a part of that "moving" rule? Or does the monster have to actually move away and not shift for the damage to take place? We assume shifting counts as movement because it makes the ability more useful but if someone could clear this up real fast I'd appreciate it.

'Move' means 'to leave one square and enter another'.  Any form of movement, including shifting and forced movement, will trigger Booming Blade's extra damage clause.
