First of all, I'm new to these forums, and D&D in general. I've been a video gamer all my life pretty much, but very little experience with pen and paper games. I've been wanting to play D&D for a long while, and never really tried. Last week I went ahead and bought the D&D Essentials starter kit or red box for a good friend of mine.  It came in this week, and we both walked each other through the solo character creation thing. We both had fun going through it. My friend has actually played a little bit of 4th edition before when he was at college.  However we have never really been able to play together mostly because of where we live (South Texas.  Alice to be more specific). Basically I wanted to ask here for some tips on finding a group, or if anybody on the forums here is from our area.  Also, my friend wanted me to ask if it'd be a good idea to stick with the Essential line or if we should go to 4e for the long term. Any help or tips would be appreciated, thanks in advance.
