| #1GibbertJul 24, 2015 13:29:54 | So, I have started a campaign, we have only played on session thus far, but I am really unhappy about my character, the class, race and background (not the stats though got really lucky with them), what should I do? I don't want to give bad impressions to the dm or group, I have only met the people once.

| #3MatyrJul 25, 2015 1:13:51 | It also helps to know more about the situation for us to start being able to help. Edition/Race/Class of your current character is a good starting point. Then what about that you don't like, or possibly what you want the character to feel like in play. |
| #4GibbertJul 25, 2015 1:44:45 | Well. I had my heart set on a Teifling warlock, I had everything planned and new exactly what I wanted to do with it. but I was a little late to the character creation and some one else had already bagged the warlock, so I had to hash together a wood elf monk (not wanting to seem selfish and such), and quickly come up with a back story on the spot, and yeah it just ended up feeling a bit wrong. (Having my heart set on the teifling warlock was a mistake). But then I realized (when I got home) that we have two barbarians, so why not two warlocks? I dunno I just wanted a second opinion on what to do, as I have only met the dm and other players once (which was the first session) and I just don't what to give a bad impression. Thank you for the replies |

Also Race/Class =/= character concept. What would help a lot more is the basic concept and feel you want to go for and then build from there. "Made a deal with some dark shadowy entity who now holds incredible sway over them, but as they do darker and darker things the character is trying to come to terms with enjoying the power" can be done as a rogue, monk, fighter, paladin, seeker.... etc. |
| #6GibbertJul 25, 2015 5:25:55 | The concept I was going for was like a shadowy knight sort of thing, very much like if not identicle to my profile pick. Can't really do that with monk/warlock though |

| #12KruskJul 27, 2015 17:18:52 | I'd mention exactly what you said here. "I don't want to be a pain, but this character isn't working for me. Can I try again?" |
