| #1blooddemonJul 05, 2010 9:47:11 | Has anyone had any luck using a CMS such as Wordpress or Joomla to manage a character sheet? It seems like something that has probably been though of previously, but I haven't found any results yet. If it hasn't been brought up before, do you think this is a good idea? Our group all utilize laptops for various reasons, so having a sort of local installation of a WAMP server with an installation of a CMS may make character management pretty simple. |

They have a character builder, which gets updated each month. I use it to manage all the characters for my campaign. One other player has a subscription. When it's time to level up, they all take a turn at my computer. When they get magic items, I have the card for that item printed out and just hand them it. Same for consumables. They don't have to enter those into their character sheet, they just need to keep track of the cards. When they use a consumbable, they hand it back. If they lose them, we consider that the player lost that item. (Unless it's like, lost everything neither have happened yet). The nice thing, it does all the math. So your power cards come out with the math done for them, and for different weapons. |

Power cards like he/she said above are all premade for you with the builder and it makes life very simple. As well with the updates he mentioned any new item/power/feat/skill/ritual... etc all are included into your game seemlessly when they become available. It's really like having a mmo character builder and leveling system within the better gaming of DnD. Perfect! |

You can also take those files, upload them, attach them to a campaign, and play (tracking HP, surges, power use, etc) using iPlay4e. The DM can even monitor the whole party and the NPCs from the inCombat plug-in. |

| #6jurphJul 26, 2010 15:39:50 | As a DM, I subscribe for the Compendium updates, but I find it very helpful to enter my players' info into the Builder and keep all of the sheets on file. If there's an absent player, no sweat: I print off a current character sheet and our healer tells them how many HPs and surges they have. Characters with absent players are rarely faced with burning dailies (because I tend not to try to kill their characters while they're away) so it works out pretty well. |
