| #1thecrimsondawnMay 30, 2014 16:00:20 | Hi everyone, I was googling a few warlock questions I had and I ran into this community and thought it would be a good idea to ask you guys here
The system we are using is Pathfinder
I am currently playing a heavly custom game based on ancient Grease with both there pantheon as well as the Egyption and Nordic ones all in play at the same time. It is a very low magic campaign where very few magic items exsist (from the legends)
however to offset our lack of magic items, we all have something akin to a 3.5 template added onto each of us representing the fact that we are descendant from the bloodline of one of the gods (since the gods slept around a bit I guess?)
We are lv 4 atm and the party has (at my best guess since we dont tell each other what we are, but rather have to learn via observation and RP) some kind of monk (thinking monk of the 4 winds) a rogue type that can use ki (ninja maybe) an undead slaying specialist (thinking ranger or a varient of) and myself (a warlock approved from the pathfinder full class list)
Warlock is mostly the same as 3.5 other then options leveling up over set in stone choices.
So are my questions.
1: How does concealment work vs eldrich blast and invocations?
2: Warlock has ways to see through magic darkness, invisability, blind sense, tremor sense, and a few others as well. Do any of these counter concealment? also how would detect magic work vs an invisable target since I can use that at will?
3: With the lack of a neck item to buff my EB, that leaves me focusing on skills and invocations that allow me to support the party and stay alive myself. However I have seen many invocations used and abused due to poor writting of some of them and am curious about strong combos yet not game breaking ones.
4:So I played the game NWN2 and noticed that some invocations could be stacked. Curious about that implacation in a game enviroment I looked it up and found nothing saying I could not do that or that the effect ends if another is cast. Sooo... if I was to cast something like a few Chilling Tentacles invocations on top of another, would you think that is OP? Would an area dispell take out the invocations? Other thoughts?
Any other insight or opinions are more then welcome
Thanks for everyones time
~D~

The skills change a bit, the feats change a bit, and the largest change is that classes get a whole lotta options and bonuses as they level up instead of a more bland base that allows more players to focus on one class and maybe 1 prestige class without being gimp.
Summed up, if you know anything about 3.5 warlock it would also aid me in path :P

Also warlocks were not converted to PF, so which one are you using (link?), or are you converting the 3.5 one? If so how?
Invocations that counter concealment will list it in their list of things they penetrate. If they don't list it, they don't work. Detect magic vs invisable targets lets you know that something in that general area that you cannot see is magic. If your int is over 5 you can make an educated guess, but those objects still get the benefits of invisability. PF changed invis quite a bit, so I'm not the best one to answer that.
Warlocks can't really break the game. Espcially via blasting invocations. Hellfire warlock is worth it as a prestige class if you can find a way to heal con damage reliably. If your EB is still a standard action, split ray or any metamagic feats are decently helpful. This seems like a solid guide http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?252715-The-New-Warlock-Handbook-3-5-WIP
. Sooo... if I was to cast something like a few Chilling Tentacles invocations on top of another, would you think that is OP?

http://www.pathfinderdb.com/character-options/classes/full-class-list/1414-warlock?showall=1&limitstart=
I like it since it gives the player options as they level up. I may even rework it a bit for other players in the future to be even better and more open ended.
Warlock is very able to break the game in 3.5, but that was changed due to a rule rework, and then a fix for this path class. The OP factor came from the fact "dark ones own luck" use to allow your CHA bonus to all saves and lasted 24 hours. It was reworked to be only one save for 24 hours, and then changed to uses per day in path. On its own that is not that big a deal, but if you add another class to it - say a paladin of freedom (CG aligned paladin) or one of the NE aligned classes that add a class bonus to saves, they stack - effectivly making you near immune to most magic and traps.
In my last game my saves where in the 50s or so after finishing aquiring the gear that I needed, With the ability to fly, deflect ranged attacks, and go invis, it made for a highly defensive build.
As you would expect tho, the damage output of the class leaves something to be desired end game. Only with epic feats do they pick up again.
This warlock is more focused on knowing things and knowing the right people. Having many bonuses that I can keep up more or less all the time at an early level is making me the face of the game, allowing us the option to talk, bride, or blackmail our way out of most situations.
My DM will not allow the use of metamagic on EB, however I can use two feats that let me use sudden metamagic once per day on it. Not sure if I am going to pick it up tho. My role is one of support, so cursing, grappling, slowing, debuffing, ect would help much more. The fact that I can dispell magic more or less as much as I want is a HUGE plus when fighting a high CR caster.
