What's the best paragon path for a somewhat melee wizard?

Besides Wizard of the Spiral Tower, what's the best paragon path for my melee wizard? He has magical armor and a magical staff, feats that improve his hit points and melee damage, and therefor a staff that does much more damage than any of his at-will powers and some of his encounter powers.

I've though about Arcane Wayfarer for him, so he could teleport all over the place and confuse enemies, but it really doesn't seem like that paragon path has very many teleportation options that would come in handy.

Battle Mage also seems like the obvious choice, but is it really very good for melee, or does it just improve casting?

No. I don't do swordmage. I don't multiclass with wizards.

Check the Spellguard Wizard Paragon Path or War Wizard of Cormyr Paragon Path from the Forgotten Realms Player's Guide (or of course Character Builder/Compendium).

Check with the DM first though; some DMs are quite ... I can't say the word because it's filtered, but they can be quite picky about allowing "setting" books in different settings.

Just say the word 'retentive', everybody knows what goes in front of it.
