What to complement two rogues?

So, two players operating independently have created Rogue characters, undoubtedly both 'Trickster Rogues', basing from both racial choices (kobold and tiefling) and, in the case of the latter, knowing player preference.

My first line of thought was a wizard and a paladin; two strikers means solo monsters are well-handled; the wizard deals with minions and the paladin somewhat straddles the leader/defender role with its limited healing powers.

Another thought was wizard and tactical warlord; with two rogues, positioning is going to be critical. Warlord powers that help people move around creates more flanking opportunities.

Any other thoughts?

Battle cleric might not be too shabby either. Little bit of a leader, little bit of a tank. Plus the rogues will love him for keeping them alive.

True. I have a Longtooth Shifter Cleric of Kord sitting around.

(When I first get a new system, I just sit around and make characters 'til I'm sure I understand the process. Gives me a lot of loose character sheets.)

I'm going to recommend Warlord as your Leader. Like you're already pointed out, it allows for a lot of ally movement, so it could help your Rogues out with that whole flanking deal. :D

So right now you've got 2 melee Strikers and a melee Leader. I really wanna recommend a Ranged defender, but there don't appear to be any that exist. :P
It would be good because you should probably have a ranged character and because a controller would stick out here because A) you don't have a defender to keep things off of him and B) because all of your allies are melee, it'll be difficult to avoid hitting them with your AoEs...

Maybe your Paladin and Wizard idea isn't so bad after all. That fixes at least problem A...

Yeah, and while I love the guy, the Tiefling Rogue fella is, shall we say, tactically inept. I have the odd feeling I'm going to have to 'make' him flank or he'll never think of it ... he's done this in 3rd and I found it infuriating.

Well, but that makes sense. "I'm going to keep the bad guys off you ... from back here," doesn't work real well.

Maybe Paladin and a little Multi on the wizard for some Clericking might work ...

From what I hear, the Artificer may come somewhere close to filling that role. If you don't mind allowing what is basically a class in beta-test into your game, that is.

lol. I do the same thing. They make great NPCs down the road, too.

Unless the ranged guy is throwing bolas :D

Other players (Defenders, Controllers, Leaders) should choose powers that create conditions on foes that grant combat advantage. The Warlord is especially sweet for shifting Rogues into position.

Eh, my rogues are never thieves, so it's not like we'd be going on a kleptomaniac rampage across the countryside.

We wound up with a half-elf Paladin of Avandra, suitably tanked out, and I went Warlord with Arcane Initiate so I could use a wand of minion-clearing ... er, Force Orb. I'm still debating if I want to continue onward with more Wizardry.

I'm not talking about boring ol' reigns of terror. I'm talking about the thrill of complete and utter stealth and espionage; the completeness and utterness you can only get out of a party of rogues. Regardless, have fun

In a four player party with two strikers, I'd definitely reccommend the other two PCs Cross-train (I've stopped calling it multiclassing). Perhaps a Wizard CTd Artificer, and a Paladin CTd Cleric, to keep inline with their power sources, and still allow the use of a good amount of healing.

Unless you want your rogues to die, bring a defender to draw the attention of the bad guys and a leader to heal/buff the party.
