What was the best thing you did?
I just work on my game campaigns. Might be D&D, might be Traveller, might be Spycraft. There's always more that needs done or detailed, as to maps, hisatory, a map of a town, NPCs, etc.
There are forums that have games, play by post. It's more for people that like to write and create, as well as play.
I've played in many such games, though the game was Star Trek or Alternity, on specific forums for those.
If it's early evening, I might drop by the WOTC chat room, and try to jump in if there's a D&D game going.
Or I might go see who is playing on OPENRPG.
If it's very late at night, I'll log in to the Neverwinter Nights server that I built some years ago, and play solo, there, or in a group with any number of people, on one of the larger servers.

As to play by post:
I used to run a play by post company, when the internet was new.
The games go much slower than a regular tabletop game, since each player has to write out their game entry.
Most players typically post about once a day, maybe a little bit more. any slower and it bogs down.
A nice thing about play br post is that you are essentially sending an email or forum post as your "game move". So you can play when there is nobody else online.
Games run via play by post typically take a very long time, and needs a good, commited gamemaster and players or they typically die off in a few weeks, due to lack of interest.
It's a decent format to use for someone who doesn't have a lot of time, or doesn't like to type really fast, as in chat-based games, or roleplayers who can't find a paper-pencil group in their home area to play with in real life.

Chat based games, some use voice, some do not. Most have a map tool and minis tool and a dice roller to get a sense of what is going on. WOTC chat doesn't have a map, but it does have online dice rollers.
Some gamers meet on MSN or other strictly chat based programs, with the DM rolling the dice at home. I've never done it that way.
I've run many, many different games via OpenRPG over the years, and WEBRPG before that. I DMed 1e & 2e AD&D, 3.5 D&D, Traveller, Star trek, Star wars d6, & Cyberpunk.
I like OpenRPG a lot, and it's free. I'm going to be running a 2e game there next month.
WOTC Chat is really good, too because the players really like D&D.
I'm in a monday night AD&D game that RedWizard runs, with 1e Rules, and about 4 other characters, live chat, via OPENRPG.
I've also heard "Battlegrounds" is good software, but I have not investigated it enough to make the investment, to this point.

Try to put an announcement at your local store: "Serious player seek gaming group, mail me at ...."
Usually works. Often stores organyze games events.

I've managed to enter at Real Adventures forum, RPGhost and Myth Reavers
But there's only full games there... none of them fits a new player
i will keep trying... any suggestions?

Check out your local gaming shop and see if they can steer you towards a group. The shops are often used as a gathering ground for local gamers.
This is of course very area depended.

Well as was pointed out, play by post could be what you want, since everyone should have the time for a couple of posts per day. I also second the advice about the announcement at the gaming store. But do be careful, because I have read such terrifying stories about people meeting up with unknown gamers...there's all kinds of stuff, bad hygiene, crime, LARP-ers who take the whole thing too seriously, scary stuff. So just be careful, and take your time to get to know those guys and see if they're decent folks.
I am also in a similar situations, my friends have no time for D&D anymore, so I'm kinda stuck. I've never done play by post and not particularly interested in it either, so I'm hoping my friends will have time soon
But then again, maybe it's a blessing for me, because I've decided to intensify my martial arts training, so I will need more time for that. Time to train even more than before :D Although I still take Sunday off (body needs rest, naturally), so I will still have time for D&D at weekends.
Anyway, enough of my talk lol, good luck finding a group!
Otherwise I haven't had much luck. Meetup.com has some stuff locally and I'm involved with one group but I'm really just biding my time until 4e.
You could also try DMing for yourself and see if you can attract other players. Even if this doesn't work out from the standpoint of being a DM you've met other players and might find out about some other games.

I think it's a good idea, but i live in Brazil, in a particular city that had only ONE RPG-related shop and it hasn't opened since december 2007

And yeah, some stories are REALLY bad, trust me. There was a thread with a link to another forum, where you can find a thread with like several thousand posts, with really terrible stuff and people. If you are given the opportunity to game with new people, or are inviting new people, I'd advise you to be really careful, you never know what kind of people you'll meet.

I've been trying to play these PbP and so i'm making the effort to learn all the stuff about it.
Rolling dice as you see above, drawing maps and whatever.
The problem is the difficulty to find a game.
It looks like DMs are ocuppied with past-threads and can't start new games.
So... I decided: I shall DM for myself!
I was working in it to DM to my friends here in my city, but as you know...
So i could DM in the post-way, i think i can find more serious and commited players here.
Also, we know everybody work,study etc. But in the post area that seens not to be a problem.
The thing is: i can't start my Campaign because i don't have played in other people campaigns.
(they won't let me do it, they posted one such person have to prove to be worth it...posting and playing and beign commited to it)
What can i do?
Could i create a campaign thread here in the "What's a player to do?"
(i think not, but you could give me some hint in the matter)
